The latest rentable treehouse in this City in a Forest popped up recently near East Atlanta Village, welcoming visitors to settle in and roost a while.
Archimedes’ Nest at the Emu Ranch is a one-bedroom, two-bathroom structure just south of EAV listed on Airbnb by owner Barry Wisebram, a manager for a local wholesale tropical fish and small pet business based. It joins other elevated Airbnb offerings in Buckhead and now East Point.
Named after Wisebram’s pet owl, Archimedes’ Nest features an open floorplan on the first floor, with a living room complete with fireplace and a dining area with a table that seats up to six. The full kitchen includes a wine cooler and pellet ice maker in addition to standard appliances.
In the loft, a queen bed dominates the space, accompanied by a reading nook and built-in ironing center, which the listing states will “help you prepare for a night on the town.”
Step out on the upper deck, where you can relax among the treetops with a morning cup of coffee or enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine.
Wisebram began planning the treehouse more than two years ago and finally started construction in June 2018, which was completed in October.
“Since I’ve always had a dream of having a treehouse ever since seeing Swiss Family Robinson as a kid, the idea of building one has been on my mind for a few years,” he says.
“When I saw that Airbnb had some listed, it clicked that building one could be an investment instead of just a folly. This would allow me to offer a stay on my property that was a private space as well.”
Wisebram had already been hosting Airbnb guests for four years, using a room in his residence. He saw the rentals as a way to recoup his investment in his property.
